Fix Window display issues in the PowerCenter client tool

Description

One of the windows (such as Navigator or Output) in a PowerCenter client tool (such as Designer) has disappeared and none of the following helps:

  • Clicking View Navigator.
  • Toggling the Menu bar.
  • Uninstalling and Reinstalling Client tools.

This issue occurs when the settings for these windows are invalid and need to be reset.
Solution

 

To resolve this issue, do the following: 

  1. Close the client tool.

  2. Go to Start Run and type regedit .

  3. Go to the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Informatica\PowerMart Client Tools\x.y.z
    Where x.y.z is the version and maintenance release level of the PowerCenter client.
  4. Open the key of the affected tool (for the Repository Manager open Repository Manager Options).

  5. Export all the Toolbars sub-folders.

  6. Rename these sub-folders (For instance, Toolbars 9.6.1_Old).

  7. Open the client tool.

WARNING

If Registry Editor is used incorrectly, it will cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Informatica does not guarantee that problems caused by using Registry Editor incorrectly can be resolved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
